Tristan Payton: The Artist, The Author And The Entrepreneur

Today I would like to focus on one of Maywood’s very own, Tristan Payton. Tristan is a long-time resident of Maywood that at an early age developed a love for art. Overtime this talented artist honed his craft, while also turning his love of art into a viable career. Besides creating beautiful murals, he also offers a variety of other services. Some of these services are the creation of self-portraits, shoe art (designs shoes) and logos along with a host of other things.

During my most recent conversation with him I asked him numerous questions about entrepreneurship. The initial questioned that I posed to Tristan was, "What initially attracted you to become an entrepreneur?" He stated that one of the major advantages of entrepreneurship is that not only do you get to be your own boss but every day you get to wake-up and do what you love. Also, he stated "that when you really do what you love to do, then work doesn't really feel like work at all!" Another advantage of working for yourself is that freedom that comes along with it. He said that "the freedom" alone makes it all worth it. I mean the ability to do what you love every day and to also get rewarded for it, is simply priceless. I next asked Tristan about how he was discovered and what are his goals for his business. Tristan confided in me that Mayor of Broadview Katrina Thompson, was the one who actually commissioned him to create a mural for her city. Upon seeing some of Tristan's work on his Facebook page he was subsequently hired to paint a mural near that is now located near the intersection of 17 th Avenue and Roosevelt Rd in Broadview. Over the course of the last month or so Tristan's work has garnered a lot of well-deserved attention. One of his main goals includes wanting to do more murals in the near future; as well as continue to grow his brand.

In addition to that Tristan is venturing out into new and uncharted territories, with his soon to be released children's book called "Charm's World". Charm's World is a book named aptly after his daughter. In this book Charm is portrayed as a superhero that's main goal is to help other children learn their ABCs and their 1-2-3s. As I conclude this article, I would like to thank Tristan for giving me the opportunity to help bring attention to both him and his undeniable talent.
